Immediate Dentures (sometimes called "Temporary or Surgical Dentures")
An Immediate Denture(s) is required when an extraction of your natural teeth become unavoidable. Your dental professional will make your dentures before your teeth are extracted.
This procedure involves taking impressions of your natural teeth while they are still present. Your dental professional is then able to fabricate a denture in the likeness of your natureal teeth, or make any necessary modifications you wish.
At your extraction appointment to remove your natural tooth/teeth, your Immediate denture(s) are inserted avoiding the embarassment of being without teeth during your healing period. Immediate dentures protect the extraction site and reduce pain associated with the dental healing process.
These temporary dentures will initially remain stable but after a week or so they will need further modifications as the mouth heals and changes.
